An industrial washing machine is practically the same as a domestic washing machine but more robust and with better component parts, since it is designed to operate on an uninterrupted basis for 8 hours a day, 7 days a week.
How long does a laundry cycle take in an industrial washing machine?
The average washing time of an industrial washing machine will depend on its capacity, the type of clothes to be washed and the program used, but we estimate that the average time of a standard program is approximately 1 hour.
How big is an industrial washing machine?
The measurements of an industrial washing machine vary according to its capacity. For example, we can find 11 kg industrial washing machines with a height of just over 1 m and much larger 120 kg industrial washing machines, which are over 2 m tall.

Which Domus dryer is the most efficient?
The features boasted by our range of ECO-ENERGY heat pump dryers make it the most efficient model in our entire catalogue: TOUCH II programmable touch microprocessor, recirculation of hot and dry air, Efficient Dry (smart humidity control), insulated unit, optimised axial-radial air flow system…
How can I save water while using a washing machine?
Consuming less water while using an industrial washing machine is the result of various factors. Controls and programs based on needs and load, precisely matched water levels, drum design, and more. The TOUCH II control on Domus washing machines can be used to program and adjust water and detergent for optimal washing and water savings.
How do I know what machines my laundry service will need?
The needs of a laundry have to be assessed in order to identify what machines are needed. This includes how many kg are processed a day, the type of clothing processed (linen, towelling, garments) along with other information which together predict what machines will be needed. Domus provides needs assessments and leverages all its experience to advise customers for optimal laundry, investment and performance.
How much does a restaurant’s laundry weigh?
The weight of clothing helps calculate how many kg of laundry will be at a laundry service, along with the machines to be chosen.
- A standard 160×180 cm tablecloth weighing 230 g/m3 weighs around 650 grams.
- A 120×160 cm table cover with the same g/m3 weighs around 425 grams.
- Each 50×50 serviette weighing 230 g/m3 weighs 60 grams.
How do I remove a stain quickly?
Over time a stain sets deeper and deeper into a fabric. Letting a stain sit usually means letting a stain delve deeper into the fabric, and letting it sit also means the fluid part often has time to evaporate, leaving just the hard, embedded parts in the fabric. Time lessens the possibilities of removing a stain.
How important is laundry temperature?
Water temperature is a key factor while washing, making a machine’s temperature accuracy vital. Every fabric and chemical product has its own operating temperature and we need to strike a balance to avoid major problems such as clothes shrinking, stretching, fading, wearing out, etc.
What machine is used for drying at an industrial laundry?
Different garments need different types of drying. A dryer can dry any type of garment. Usually a rotary ironer or a flatwork ironer is used to dry linen, which also irons it at the same time. A flatwork ironer can dry and iron clothing taken directly from a washing machine, saving the energy used by a dryer.
What does cool down mean on an industrial dryer?
The cool down period is set at the end of a cycle, and is designed to cool down clothing to a safe temperature so it can be handled, to avoid fire hazards, and to stop clothing from wrinkling in case it takes us a while to unload the dryer.
What is an inverter on a dryer?
An inverter is an electronic device controlling the frequency of power supplied to the motor and the spinning speed. This provides a variety of advantages and is key for controlling reversing. Thanks to this we get optimum drying cycles while saving time and power.
Calenders and industrial ironing equipment
What is an industrial calender?
An industrial calender is a laundry machine that is used for drying and ironing flat items, such as hotel sheets and table linen.
Some models have an integrated folder so that items come out perfectly ironed and folded.
What types of industrial calenders can you find in our catalogue?
At Domus, we have 2 different types of calenders: wall-mounted or compact calenders, and tray calenders.
The main difference between the two models is the location of the heating elements.
In wall-mounted or compact calenders, the heating element is located in the roller, while in tray calenders, it is located in the tray.
How does an industrial calender work?
The operator inserts the flat linen from the front, it then passes through a roller, and via this process the sheet is dried and ironed, prior to exiting from the front or the back of the machine.
For which sectors is an industrial calender useful?
Calenders are suitable for sectors that need to be able to process large volumes of ironing, i.e., professional and industrial laundries, hospitality and hospitals.
What is industrial ironing equipment?
An industrial iron is a laundry machine that is used only for ironing clothes. Unlike calenders, irons cannot dry clothes. Clothes must first be put through the dryer before they can be put in the ironing equipment, and it is recommended that residual humidity be no more than 25%.
For which sectors is an industrial clothes iron useful?
Industrial ironing equipment is recommended for businesses with a relatively low volume of items to process. They are very common for example in restaurants, small hotels or care homes.
