The new line of industrial dryers from Domus and the EFFICIENT DRY system

What temperature should an industrial tumble dryer be on?

In this post, we will try to answer the following question: What temperature should an industrial tumble dryer be on?

Industrial and conventional tumble dryers, that do not have a smart humidity control system, usually damage clothing if the temperature is not adjusted to the specific features of each fabric: cotton, polyester, synthetic fabrics…

In this sense, our industrial tumble dryers have pre-set programmes for each type of fabric, apart from also having a system called EFFICIENT DRY, with which you will be able to have absolute control over the degree of humidity of the garments in each drying cycle, thanks to its automatic regulation system of the drum speed.

They also have a system called AIR RE-CYCLE which reuses the air intelligently, achieving significant yearly energy savings.

Optimum temperatures for industrial tumble dryers

To ensure optimal drying and maintain the quality of your laundry, it is crucial to know the right temperatures for each type of fabric. Here is a detailed guide:

  • Cotton and linen:

– Recommended temperature: 70-90°C.
– Consequences of not following the recommendation: at higher temperatures, cotton may shrink and linen may become stiff. At lower temperatures, drying may be incomplete and prolonged.

  • Cotton/Polyester blends:

– Recommended temperature: 60-70 °C.
– Consequences of not following the recommendation: at excessively high temperatures, the synthetic fibers may melt or deform. At very low temperatures, the blend may not dry properly, causing wrinkling.

  • Polyester:

– Recommended temperature: 50-60 °C.
– Consequences of not following the recommendation: polyester is susceptible to deformation and loss of shape at high temperatures. At low temperatures, it may become damp and develop bad odours.

  • Delicate (silk, lace):

– Recommended temperature: 40-50 °C.
– Consequences of not following the recommendation: delicate fabrics may be irreparably damaged at high temperatures. At low temperatures, they may need more time to dry, but will retain their quality.

Maintenance tips for industrial dryers

Proper maintenance of an industrial tumble dryer not only ensures its efficient operation, but also prolongs its service life. Here are some essential tips:

  • Filter cleaning:
    – Frequency: after each drying cycle.
    – How to do it: remove the filter and remove accumulated lint. Wash it with water and dry it completely before reinstalling it.
    – Importance: a clean filter ensures proper airflow and prevents overheating, which improves energy efficiency.
  • Component check:
    – Frequency: monthly.
    – Components to check: belts, pulleys, bearings and seals.
    – How to do it: visually inspect these components for signs of wear or damage and replace them if necessary.
    – Importance: keeping these components in good condition prevents unexpected breakdowns and costly repairs.
  • Sensor calibration:
    – Frequency: annually.
    – How to do it: consult the manufacturer’s manual for exact specifications and follow the instructions for recalibrating temperature and humidity sensors.
    – Importance: properly calibrated sensors ensure that the dryer operates at the proper temperatures, preventing both under-drying and overheating of fabrics.

Interesting details that you should remember before placing items of clothing in the drum of your industrial tumble dryer

If you are not sure what type of fabric the clothing is, you should always look at the label where you are sure to find all of the information you need.

On the other hand, natural fabrics such as cotton or linen tend to shrink whenever specific programmes for them are not used.

We would also like to mention that, if you want the clothing to smell nice after the drying cycle has finished, our tumble dryers are the only ones that have a perfume dosing system that will leave you fully satisfied.

In addition, there are a series of items that should never be placed in industrial tumble dryers, such as rubber or foam items.

We are looking at ergonomic tumble dryers, with a high degree of connectivity and low maintenance
